Terry Wighs D.V.M.

He and wife Debbie share 5 children, all grown up and out of the house and currently 8 grandchildren. Dr.Wighs describes his pet numbers and types as nothing short of a zoo.He also has a passion for aviation, and is currently a volunteer pilot for Angelflight Central, and an active participant in the Young Eagles Program through the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1344. After hours, sounds of riveting can be heard from his garage, where he is building an RV-8 aircraft that he plans to be flying by April of 2013.
Trisha Ostrom, D.V.M.
Dr. Trisha Ostrom was born and raised in Wichita, KS. She attended Kansas State University and graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After two years in small animal veterinary practice, she joined Town & Country Animal Hospital as an associate in 2001. In addition to working at Town Country, Dr. Ostrom has been a member of the Friends of the Salina Animal Shelter since its formation in 2007 and regularly volunteers her time evaluating dogs for placement on the PetSmart Charities' Rescue Waggin'. She enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and their dogs and cats, as well as reading, gardening and hiking. Dr. Ostrom also enjoys exercising, especially running. She regularly competes in half marathons and completed her first full marathon in June of 2010 with fellow employee, Melissa.
Town & Country is fortunate to have two very informative and helpful receptionists that can assist you with all of your pets’ needs, including help with patient case histories and animal nutritional and wellness needs.
Melissa
Melissa has been working as a receptionist at Town & Country since 1998. It had always been her dream to work at a veterinary clinic and she was overjoyed to get the opportunity. Over the years working at Town & Country she has continued to learn something new every day and in turn has become very knowledgeable. She has two silly and very rambunctious Boston terriers (Jesse and Dezrae) and two demanding cats (Black Jack and Halley). She enjoys reading, running and pretty much any outdoor activity. She also fosters animals for the Salina Animal Shelter and does some rescue work for animals in need
Monica
Monica has been enjoying her work as a receptionist at Town and Country since 2004. The favorite part of her job is communicating with customers and experiencing the love they share for their pets. She shares that love with her 2 Siberian huskies (one a rescue with only three legs), a mixed breed dog, a few cats, birds and horses.
Our three dedicated veterinary assistants can assist you with your pets’ needs, which include providing specialized nursing care, performing laboratory procedures, preparing and assisting in diagnostics, medical and surgical procedures
Summer
Summer has been working as a veterinary assistant since July 1998. Working with animals has always been a passion of hers. She remains dedicated and committed to doing everything she can for the welfare of animals including volunteering with the Friends of the Salina Animal Shelter. Summer focuses on exceptional patient care and is very compassionate.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, horseback riding and running. She also enjoys volunteering at the Animal Shelter as a certified behavior tester for Petsmart Charities Rescue Waggin. Summer shares her home with her husband, son, 3 horses ( Scout, Tucker and Gus), 5 dogs ( Shelby, Daisy, Bodie, Baby and Tessa), lots of cats and a foster dog every now and than.
Manuela
Manuela was born and raised in Germany. She moved to the United States and settled in the central Kansas area in 2002. She has lived in Salina for 6 years now. She joined Town & Country Animal Hospital in 2007 when the opportunity crossed her way. This fulfilled a lifelong dream as there have always been animals in her life and the desire to work with them grew as she did.
Valerie
Valerie was born deaf, but that never stopped her from loving and caring for animals. Ever since she could remember, she took in strays, begging parents to let her keep them and nurse them back to health. She attended college for years while figuring out what she wanted to major in. Her major changed frequently from Veterinary medicine to English to several different fields in science, including exercise physiology and medical assistance.
It wasn’t until she started volunteering at the Animal Shelter, that she realized she really wanted to work with animals. Shortly after she started volunteering at th Animal Shelter the opportunity arose to work at the Town & Country Animal Hospital in October 2009. She has not looked back since.
And our four energetic kennel assistants
